Disciplined Life

God has created creatures in His Own Image. God's Light (called Guru, Satguru, Satguru Poora, Sabda and Gur Sabda) abides in all creatures, and is the Life Giving Force, covered by the material body of 5 Elements, which create varied Passions and Instincts, and create their needs. The accumulative effect of the these thoughts is called MIND, which has the Material Base of the body, quite distinct of the Divine Light of All Purity and Perfection and the Source of All Virtues. The creatures are invariably led by the demands of their Mind or their Self, which have the Material Base, for their sensual pleasures. Of all the Instincts, Sex is the Most Powerful Instinct in creatures, embodies love or the utmost desire for union with the desired object, for the sensual pleasures. Satisfaction of the instinctual passions to experience pleasure is of ephemeral nature, does not last long, but create other problems. Man is in search of the lasting pleasure, which he can find in union with his Source, the Divine.

When Man transcends his Mind and reflects on the Divine abiding in him, and leads the life under His Guidance, he utilizes his instinctual forces toward positive ends for the ever lasting Happiness in union with the Divine.

Sri Guru Nanak Dev Jee, in Rag Dhanasari Chhands, page 689 gives us the way of union of Man with the Divine abiding in him, and his ultimate salvation, by giving the simile of union of Man and Woman in wedlock. The way the Guru describes for the ideal relationship between wife and husband, how oneness in them is attained; the Guru teaches us that the same relationship equally applies for union of a human with the Divine.

In Composition Oankar, in Rag Ramkali, section 29, p. 933 SGGS, Sri Guru Nanak Dev Jee teaches us -

"Control your mind, and keep it in its place. The world is destroyed by conflict, regretting its sinful mistakes. THERE IS ONE HUSBAND LORD, ALL ARE HIS BRIDES. The false bride wears many costumes. He stops her from going into the homes of others; He summons her to the Mansion of His Presence, and no obstacles block her path. She is embellished with His Love, and is loved by the True Lord. She is the happy bride, who takes the Support of her Lord and Master. 29"

The Message of the Guru is to accept the Divine Athority, as our Creator Master, Who controls our Destiny, live with Him and accept His Doings or His Will lovingly. This is the way we the Brides get re-united with our Divine Source, and lead a happy and dignified life of Moral Integrity.

SWORD BEING THE SYMBOL OF AUTHORITY, SRI GURU GOBIND SINGH JEE MADE IT OBLIGATORY TO KEEP THIS SYMBOL TO EVER ACCEPT AND EXPERIENCE THE DIVINE AUTHORITY IN ALL WALKS OF OUR LIFE TO LEAD A DISCIPLINED LIFE. IN BOTH GURU GRANTH AND DASAM GRANTH AND BHAI GURDAS WRITINGS, THE TEACHINGS IN EVERY BIT OF WRITINGS ARE TO ACCEPT THE DIVINE AUTHORITY AND LEAD DISCIPLINED LIFE.

ALAS! THIS DISCIPLINE IS TOTALLY LACKING IN US TODAY AND THERE IS COMPLETE DISHARMONY IN OUR LIFE.

"Your Husband Lord is with you, O deluded human bride, but you are not aware of Him. Your destiny is written on your forehead, according to your past actions. This inscription of past deeds cannot be erased; what do I know about what will happen? You have not adopted a virtuous lifestyle, and you are not attuned to the Lord Husbands Love; you are crying over your past misdeeds. Wealth and youth are like the shade of the bitter swallow-wort plant; you are growing old, and your days are coming to their end. O Nanak, without the Naam, loving the Name of the Lord, you shall end up as a discarded, divorced bride; your own falsehood shall separate you from the Lord. 1 .
You have drowned, and your house is ruined; walk in the Way of your Husband's Will. Meditate on His True Name, and you shall find peace in the Mansion of His Presence. Meditate on the Lord's Name, and you shall find peace; your stay in this world shall last for a short duration. Sit in the home of your own being (make your Mind still, prenting it from going astray in love of other material things), and you shall find Truth; night and day, be with your Beloved. Without loving devotion, you cannot dwell in your own home - listen, everyone! O Nanak, she is happy, and she obtains her Husband Lord, if she is attuned to His Love. 2 .
If the human bride is pleasing to her Husband Lord, then the Husband Lord will love His bride. Imbued with the love of her Beloved, she lovingly contemplates the Lord abiding in her (Gur Sabad). She contemplates the Lord, and her Husband Lord loves her; in deep humility, she worships Him in loving devotion. She burns away her emotional attachment to Maya, and in love, she loves her Beloved. She is imbued and drenched with the Love of the True Lord; she has become beautiful, by conquering her mind. O Nanak, the happy bride abides in Truth; she loves to love her Husband Lord. 3 .
The bride looks so beautiful in the home of her Husband Lord, if she is pleasing to Him. It is of no use at all to speak false words. If she speaks false, it is of no use to her, and she does not see her Husband Lord with her eyes. Worthless, forgotten and abandoned by her Husband Lord, she passes her life-night without her Lord and Master. Such a wife does not love her Lord ; she is caught in the net of the world, and does not obtain the Mansion of the Lord's Presence. O Nanak, if she understands her own self, then, as Gurmukh, she merges in celestial peace. 4 .
Blessed is that bride, who knows her Husband Lord. Without the Love for her Lord, she is false, and her actions are false as well. Devotional worship of the Lord is beautiful; the True Lord loves it. So immerse yourself in loving devotional worship of God Husband. Her Husband Lord is Playful and All Pure. Imbued with His Love, she enjoys in intimate union with Him. She blossoms forth by lovingly contemplating Him; she ravishes her Husband Lord, and obtains the most noble reward. O Nanak, in Truth, she obtains glory; in her Husband's home, the human bride looks beautiful. 5 . 3"
